Ice Oval Racing to return at Buffalo River Race Park with the two weekend Snodown Racing Festival
Ice Oval Snowmobile racing, quite possibly the most intense action sport in all racing, makes its return to the Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. this winter not once, but twice, with the SNODOWN Racing Festival on December 28-29, 2018 and February 1-2, 2019.
The SNODOWN will be promoted by the newly christened “Ice Oval” production team featuring staff from X.CELERATED of Silver Bay, Minn. who previously produced live broadcast snowmobile and motocross events under the “Ditch Banger” moniker. Ice Oval will be lead by industry veteran Lindsey Fontaine.
“After some major changes in the ice oval world the opportunity presented itself to step in as an event promoter and producer” added Fontaine. “We have a number of marketing and branding ideas to give our product a fresh start with a younger demographic. The events will be affordable for all ages and our format will spotlight the best racers on the world on the blue ice of Buffalo River.”
The SNODOWN will feature $5 general admission tickets, FREE general admission for kids 18 & under, FREE admission for college students with ID, and FREE admission for veterans. Upgrades to the VIP Lounge will be available for sale in limited quantity for $20 per day in addition to VIP Seating and Luxury Suites.
Each race weekend will feature practice on Thursday, racing during the day and night on Friday and Saturday with the Champ 440 and two additional feature classes, to be announced, under the lights for the night show starting at 6PM. Track building will be conducted by BRRP with an increased importance put on track safety and construction.
A number of additional announcements will be forthcoming including a points series with cash purse, live streaming information, national television coverage, event website, modern and vintage race classes, and much more.
